$ shasum <path to file>

OR:

$ openssl sha1 <path to file>

You don't have to enter <path to file> manually, simply enter "shasum " or "openssl sha1 ", making sure there is a space at the end, drag the installation package zip file from Finder to the Terminal, click on the Terminal window to ensure it has the keyboard focus, then hit the "Return/Enter" key in Terminal.

Known issues

Menu commands may appear disabled after entering an invalid registration key and closing the invalid key message. Close and restart the program.

The status message "insufficient colours in palette" may appear after a random palette generation, after trying to select an option not available in the free version, e.g. the CIEDE2000 filter, or after changing tabs to Filtered then back to Filter/Optimiser. The message is misleading because the random palette is generated independently of the selected palette. The invalid status can be cleared by selecting Source as Random (HSV) or Random (HSL) again.
